Just when I thought the day was done...... She was very happy to go into a clean, dry pen. Pawing at the ground is the main communication method. Time for delivery suite. Pen number 2. Watch this space!

You might have noticed a stranger in the Barn with the ewes and lambs. He arrived and shows no inclination to go. What I want to know is who was his taxi? He I am sure did not spot a likely new home on our webcam. Someone else did!

They are born either spotted or nearly black. This helps break ip their outline to protect against predators. Clever mother nature. Our sheep breed is Norfolk Horn. One of the oldest breeds in England

Quiet day in maternity unit

No lambs yet today. First day of season for visitors. The young lambs enthralled everyone Poppet and Tubby last year's bottle reared lambs loved the attention they got. The nursery now has 13 ewes and their lambs. We moved 5 more out of their individual pens this morning to make room for new arrivals.

Glad it is a warm night. Cannot believe the wind though. Still waiting for the next delivery. She has been keeping me waiting for 5 hours since she first showed signs. A bit more restless now but she was quite keen to be encouraged into a delivery pen! Pawing the ground for sometime now. I did have a quick 'feel'! All seems normal. 2 feet and 1 nose present and correct.

On my way out again to check on ewe lambing. I had her in my sight on the webcam but she has now moved behind the hayrack! Clever. Se must have known I was watching.

Another ewe on way. I have left a pen open hoping she will go in herself. She does not seem too keen so will leave her be while I grab some supper. Did you see the cheeky lamb from next door go and check it out?
