Dates
Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th, and daily Saturday 17th to Wednesday 21st December 2011. From 10am each day but tickets are sold to enter during a specific hour. Once entered visitors may stay as long as they like until closing.
What the Ticket Covers
Each ticket covers entry to the Victorian House, to the Dickens Reading, to the Music Hall, to Father Christmas and to making certain Victorian Decorations (additional decorations or packs to make them at home may also be purchased). There will also be the Victorian Tearoom offering goods or services for purchase and (at extra cost) the chance to make a wreath to hang on your door.
On arrival you will receive a ticket. This will admit you and your child(ren) to one performance reading of A Christmas Carol at the time stated on the ticket and one visit to Father Christmas at the time stated on the ticket. For both the Charles Dickens Reading and to see Father Christmas children must be accompanied by an adult. If you miss your allocated times for A Christmas Carol and to see Father Christmas you may lose your opportunity to see these two happenings unless there happens to be space at a later time.
Visitors may visit the Victorian House and the Music Hall as often as they wish, space (and for the Music Hall) performances permitting.
Visitors may also book (in advance or on arrival) a table at the Victorian Tearooms for Morning Coffee, Light Luncheon or Afternoon Tea.
Weather
The Event continues whatever the weather (and did so during the cold and snow which affected the 2009 and 2010 Events).
Refunds
We do not give any refunds whatsoever.
However, if you give us 5 clear days' notice before your booked date we may at our discretion exchange your booking for a later date at Dickensian Christmas 2011 or give a credit to be used only in relation to some other Kentwell event at some later date.
Tickets
The number of Tickets available during each hour from 10am to 2pm will be limited to avoid crowding. There will be no entry after 2pm. Tickets are only available for use on the day for which they were booked.
Children
An Older Child is aged 4 to 15; a Younger Child is 18 months to not yet 4; there is no charge for babes under 18 months.
All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. All (adults included) may visit Father Christmas but only children with paid tickets will receive a present. Each child who wishes to engage in any making activity must be accompanied by a separate adult to supervise the child while doing so.
Length of Visit
Anything up to about four hours. This may depend upon how many times you want to go round the Victorian House (things vary during the day as in any household) and how long you want to spend making Decorations. We shall close at 6pm but the House will usually close earlier the time for which will be notified on arrival. (The House is lit after dark by candles and oil lamps which have to be closely monitored.)
Christmas Wreath-Making
We are able to offer Christmas Wreath-making at £22 for each wreath. This has proved very popular and takes a little time. Space is limited. Please call 01787 310207 and book this at least 3 working days before you visit. The longer ahead you book the more likely it is that there will be space. There may be some spaces available on the day.
